Care problem

Leggy growth

Long, thin stems reaching for the light: the plant needs a brighter spot.

Why it happens

With too little light, the plant spends its energy stretching toward brighter light instead of growing compact.

How to fix it

  1. Move it closer to a bright window, or measure a better spot with the light meter.
  2. Add a grow light close above the plant, for about 12 to 16 hours a day.
  3. Cut stretched stems back to just above a leaf joint so bushier side shoots form.
  4. Water less often while the light stays low.
